When you are bored of flat pack and the idea of IKEA brings you out in a sweat, get yourself down to Creations. Looking for a chest of drawers with a friend I was dragged in on a Saturday afternoon (not my favourite way to spend the weekend), but I must honestly admit to being surprised. The place is enormous, very easy to get lost in, and while I wasn't the one buying they had so much furniture to suit most tastes and wallets.
What I was most impressed by was their selection of accessories, and while before I didn't think I'd need a giant Buddha head I my living room, I'm totally considering one now.

I love a good furniture shop. I don't think I'm that interested in furniture, I just love the shops (is that insane?). I think it just feels like walking around in a big playhouse, and the kid in me comes racing to the surface! For that reason, I love this shop. The furniture is all good quality, but not extortionately priced. There's a good mix of traditional and contemporary products, so no matter what your taste, you're bound to find something to take home with you!

If I had to describe Creations in 3 words, they would be - huge, good-value-for-money (I know that's a cheat) and frustrating. Huge because it spreads over 5 floors, right up to the clearance/slightly damaged section on the top floor. Good value for money as you will get well-made. sturdy furniture (ie not self assembly which I detest) at reasonable prices. Frustrating because you cannot take home anything you see there and then and if they don't have what you want in the warehouse you may have to wait up to 8 weeks. Creations is jammed with furniture and accessories like pictures, vases and artificial flowers, mirrors and candles.
The furniture ranges from traditional oak to shabby chic painted wood, contemporary glass and metal to leather sofas. We have bought a sleigh bed (fab), a huge shabby chic mirror (also fab) and a dining table and chairs here (15 years old and still going strong) here over the years and I'm sure we'll buy more in the future.

We always nip in here for a wee look about, even when we aren't actually looking to buy any furniture.it's like stepping foot inside a Homes and Interiors Magazine, it's very well arranged and laid out - I think the word is 'merchandising', as it just makes you want to buy absolutely everything you see - even if it's not your taste. We've bought beautiful big wooden framed mirrors here and dining tables, and they really do last forever - it's very well made furniture.
The items they offer range from rustic pine and oak furniture to more modern items and leather furniture, lamps, accessories and textiles. What baffles me about the place is, with all it's little tiny staircases and narrow walkways around each floor - how did they fit the display furniture in here in the first place?
