Ordered a parasol which lasted 12 months and a 2 weeks before breaking quite spectacularly, built in obsolescence I'm sure! Fishpools only offer a 12 month guarantee and refused to offer any goodwill discount when ordering a replacement. Even 10% would have been sufficient for me to reorder through them - will go elsewhere!

Have been using Fishpools for a few years now, and sadly the level of quality of information, and level of service has decreased. We ordered a garden set which was over 5000, and told it was the last one in stock. We then waited around six months for the first items to turn up and still waiting for the second. We have paid a large deposit for the balance of goods and continue to be told it's on its way only to be told when chasing them it's not.
It's on the water, it's in stock, it's not in stock, it will be there in seven days?. That was a month ago, after another chase, it maybe late April now. Can I speak with the manager, he's unavailable, can he call me, within a couple of days I was told. Good products, poor service. Real shame as it has all the opportunities to be a market leader in its field.

Purchased a number of things from this place. Firstly had a glass console delivered which was cracked and it took them over 4 months to replace. Then had purchased dinning table and chairs which were not cheap, firstly the leg came apart after just few months and the chairs has scratched the marble tiles (see pictures below). the floor protectors are terrible as they keep loosening and coming off. Spoke to the customer service and apparently there is nothing they can do as thats just how they are made.

Came in with my mother and father early January to order a dining set. Was really impressed with the service given by Simon. Today, have had to call because of a misunderstanding on my part about delivery. The customer service was again fantastic. The lady on the phone got Simon to call me back. He called back within 10/15 mins and was very patient and answered all my questions and cleared everything up in minutes. Will 100% be going back to this store for the great customer service and the great selection of furniture.

*Edited to two stars as the sofa eventually arrived in January and is great. The customer service however. (see below!) Ordered and placed a deposit in store for a sofa in June with a 16 week lead time, due beginning of October, has so far been delayed 4 times by email. The last email was about 6 weeks ago, saying the delivery was due yesterday (11 December). Today, the status online has changed to 'delayed - update pending'.
I have called and talked to a salesman and his manager, both of whom were unhelpful. I get that there is an issue with global shipping at the moment, but the communication has been awful, and I was told that no compensation would be given as then they would 'have to offer it to everyone'. My reasonable compromise suggestion of a goodwill discount off future purchases was also flat out denied.
At this stage, 6 months+ after ordering, I have literally no idea when the sofa will arrive. I don't think I'm being unreasonable, and had they handled this better, I would have probably tolerated the delays. I bought from a family firm for the customer service. I may as well have gone to a nationwide chain. My order number is 513513.

Some really nice pieces in here for all types of taste. There can be some real bargains to be had on clearance items as well. A nice little cafe on the first floor which is great for a little break and has toilets and lifts as well Could easy spend ages in here. You have to pay to enter for parking at 1.50 but this understandable as everyone would just park there and go into the shopping centre, you get the money back on a spend in shop but not the cafe and on less busy times they wave you in without charge.
There is another little stand alone shop right next door with more stuff in, labelled outlet, which again has bargains in it. Do check anything clearance as it is sold as seen.

Bought a Dining Table with chairs for GBP 5000+. When I extend the table, one side leaves a gap of 3mm. The table looks very odd and the difference is noticeable. Spoke to Fishpools and they say that the manufacturer allows a 3mm difference when you extend it! This was never conveyed to me as their showroom table was perfect. Their reply: "The table is to specification.
The manufacturer has a gap tolerance which allows the extending leaf to manoeuvre. This gap is within the tolerance and is not a fault."! Well, I have had tables all my life and not even once I have had a tolerence. Had this been discussed with me, I wouldn't have spent 5k on this set! They have washed their hands and asked me to refer to the Ombudsman which I will!
Even the bottom part of the table stand (which is not visible) had 100's of marks, this too they say is normal! BEWARE! Make sure you ask all basic questions! I buy a new table, I need it in a Top class order! don't care if it is visible or not! Ombudsman and then courts?! Will update The guys who assembled the table were amazing! Only plus point!
The sales guy are more empathetic than customer service lol! Sometimes when we read negative reviews, we ignore. I did the same. please don't as negative reviews too are from genuine experiences!

Warning - exploding glass table! The glass top on my garden table has spontaneously exploded! I was sitting by the table about half-an-hour before with my grandchild, so thank god it did not happen earlier. Even after clearing this up (and cutting myself in the process) there are still bits of glass strewn all over my garden in-between the paving stones that I cannot get out, so I have no idea how I am ever going to let my grandchildren play out there again.
Let alone the fact that I have 2 smaller tables with the same glass that I am now going to have to get rid of. I just contacted Fishpools and provided them with photos but have been told "the goods are now out of warranty" so they "will not be able to pursue this". Unbelievable! These products are dangerous and should be recalled. I have always liked Fishpools and recommended them to family and friends, but none of us will ever shop here again after the way they have dealt with this.

Fishpools have a wide range of furniture over several floors. Sofas, dining, beds, lighting, accessories. The budget varies and goes up to known labels and some designer ranges which are to order. The sales staff are very friendly and helpful. However, the after sales is very disappointing. I decided to purchase designer furniture. I received a faulty order on delivery.
The delivery guy noticed, took photos, and reassured me it would be sorted and to hold on to the furniture. I look back now and realise, with this retailer, it would have been better to refuse delivery. A technician came over after a couple of weeks later and was quite unfriendly. After a lot of quibbling, he took more photos and agreed to replace the goods received with new items.
A week later I received a call to suggest repairing them instead! 500 dining chairs! The issue is still ongoing, but I don't think I would purchase from them again. Really poor after sales :

After looking at their website and seeing that they offer ample customer parking I decided to drive there today. Unfortunately Fishpools neglects to mention that they charge 1.50 for the parking which you get refunded if you buy something for 3 or more. For Waltham Cross, outside the M25, for a company selling expensive furniture, this is rediculous. 100m away neither Homnebase nor Wickes are charging anything for parking and just opposite the shop there is the High Street public parking space for 1.40 for 2 hours or if you only go for 30 min or 1 hour, 30p or 60p respectively! ============ Update 21/02/2012: As mentioned below Fishpools have now clarified the parking charges on their website, including alternative parking options.

I love fishpools - i go in there to browse and imagine the things i would buy if i 1. had the room and 2. had the disposable income. The furniture is amazing and well made - this stuff is designed to last a life-time, and the range is fantastic with modern pieces sandwiched among great oak and old-fashioned period items. They have a range of items from large furniture right down to the little accessories.
I bought my mum some crystal pieces for her birthday last year and they were great value. These items are located in a room to the right when you enter the main store. Fishpools also have a smaller store a few doors down where they sell off the end of line items, or returns at a substantial discount. Also do arrange delivery of the items and the delivery drivers are friendly, helpful and courteous

This is a great furniture store. The old fashioned type. It has everything one could want. Half of my house has been furnished by this store. They have a bedroom department, linens department, lighting department, bathroom department, fireplace department, china department not to mention the usual sofa's, chairs and dining room furniture. They even have a coffee shop.
I also find they are competitive on price too. My top tip for buying furniture is to bargain, there is always room for them to come down in price. Even in a sale. Or try for a deal on the delivery. There are lifts to get to the different floors. They also do interest free credit. They occassionally have promotions where you go in and have a glass of champagne or chocolates etc. You do have to pay 1 to use the carpark. They have an outlet store next door.
