Skidmores was founded in 1919 by Edward James Skidmore, who came to Weston to visit his son, Stanley Hugh Skidmore, who was convalescing after being injured in the 1st World War. He found his perfect location in Worle High Street and set about serving the local community with hardware, ironmongery, paint, new and used furniture.
In 1864 Edward James Skidmore, stonemason, builder and founder of the Skidmores' shop in Worle, was born in Eastleach, Gloucestershire. Later, with his wife Charlotte, he lived in Milton-under-Wychwood, Oxfordshire, until 1896 when he, Charlotte and their family of nine children moved to Abertillery, South Wales, where they established a building firm.

Very pleased with our purchase from Skidmores, good quality side cabinet, Great delivery team, a couple of very friendly men, assembly and removal of rubbish included with this free delivery service, wish I'd used Skidmores sooner, it will be my first port of call when purchasing furniture in the future, very competitive prices, showroom staff pleasant and helpful, can't fault my first shopping experience at Skidmores, will definitely re-visit very shortly,

Unique personal service, super friendly and helpful staff. High end brands at good prices, Skidmores often have superior offers on selected items which represent good value. I have bought from Brian, Mike and team whenever possible since about 1983! My Karndean kitchen floor is beautiful and I could not be any more pleased with the skill and attention to detail from start to finish with choosing, measuring and fitting my beautiful wool carpet which at the fabulous prices meant I was able to upgrade to a superior quality.
The fitters Kelvin, Russell and Steve are tidy, efficient and swift showing a great deal of care moving my furniture where I hadn't been able and placing it back where it was. I could not recommend them any more highly. My home looks amazing, thank-you all.

Excellent quality carpet. Just got home from work and my partner told me about his experience. Apparently the men who came to fit the carpet were very kind and funny. I can not fault their service in the store, and the men who fit the carpet have not made any faults, perfectly fit around our fireplace, bay window and generally odd shaped lounge. Will definitely go back for the rest of our rooms!
